M is for Marigolds

I have a love/hate relationship with marigolds.

Love: I have a fondness for them because they were the first flower seed I planted, in a tiny flowerbed next to my house. My daughter, who was just a toddler at the time, used to wear them in her long blond hair.

Hate: Ok, they just have a weird aroma.

Love: It is super easy to harvest the seeds.

Hate: They're orange and yellow, not my favorite colors.

Love: They bloom into the fall and I recently discovered that they make a decent cut flower when all your summer blooms are giving up the ghost.

Hate: I've had them in my garden every year for decades so I'm just tired of them.

Love: I plant them because my husband loves them and I love him so...
