More About The Wildwater Walking Club
The Wildwater Walking Club is a quick smart read that will get you thinking about walking, friendship, and making time for the things you love.— Book Reporter
After losing her boyfriend and her job in one fell swoop, Noreen has no idea what her next step is. So she puts on a new pair of sneakers and a seriously outdated pair of exercise pants, and walks. Before long she's joined by two neighbors as lost as she is and figures out time flies and fitness is actually fun when you're walking with friends. Throw in a road trip to Seattle for a lavender festival, a career-coaching group that looks like a bad sequel to The Breakfast Club, some terrific romantic comedy twists and turns, a quirky multigenerational cast of supporting characters, and the result is a tribute to female friendship that will inspire you to pick up the phone and call all your old friends--or maybe even start your own walking group.
In The Wildwater Walking Club, join Noreen, Tess and Rosie as they walk and talk, talk and walk, tally their steps, share their secrets, and begin putting their lives back together. You'll be lacing up your own sneakers in no time. From the New York Times bestselling author of Must Love Dogs, a fun and inspiring novel about women and friendship—and how even big changes happen one step at a time.
More About Claire Cook
Claire Cook may be my new hero! After being a fan of the book and movie Must Love Dogs,
I just recently decided to dive into her non-fiction and fiction and am having so much fun. Need a summer read? Look no further than Claire Cook - fun, easy and beautiful settings.
Here’s the short version of her story: I wrote my first book in my minivan when I was 45. At 50, I walked the red carpet at the Hollywood premiere of the romantic comedy movie adaption of Must Love Dogs. I’m now the New York Times, USA Today and international bestselling author of 24 books. My books have been translated into 14 languages.
Take it from me, if you have a buried dream, it’s never too late!
My Thoughts About The Wildwater Walking Club
Ever read a book or watch a movie and feel like someone's been spying on you? Reading The Wildwater Walking Club gave me this feeling because Noreen (like me) is given the option (is it really an option?) of a buyout when the company she works for is sold. Noreen (like me) is not thrilled with the idea of starting over. Sadly, Noreen also has to deal with relationship issues (men!) but happily begins some new friendships to help her through the rough spots.
We've all been there...our life seemed finally to be straightened out when BAM! The Wildwater Walking Club is Noreen dealing with the aftermath of the BAM! and the people who help, distract and entertain her along the way. Cook has a way of writing that feels like your best friend has just called and said, "You will never guess what just happened to me!"
Her characters are not perfect, sometimes they're downright goofy, often they do things that make you think, "Oh honey, what were you thinking?" It is that very imperfection that makes me fall for them every time. The Wildwater Walking Club is the ideal book for wiling away the summer on the back patio. I only read Book One but there are three other books in the series I'm tempted to jump into. So many books are heavy on the romance with a touch of friendship but Claire Cook has switched the ratio to heavy on the friendships with a touch of romance. I'd like to say my life is full of grand gestures and romance but it's more about lunches and inside jokes with friends so this series is just right for me. Celebrate friendship!
